Viktoria Søndergaard Secrets + support: Purpur | CPH Jazz Festival

Vibraphonist, composer, and performer Viktoria Søndergaard is one of the most original voices on the Danish jazz and improv scene. With her unusual choice of instrument, she has managed to take the vibraphone far beyond its traditional role and into a vibrant, playful, and expressive universe. Her music embodies raw energy, melodic sensitivity, and an almost theatrical approach to the concert format, where vocal elements, movement, and a strong stage presence are a natural part of her expression.

Søndergaard’s music moves effortlessly between the intense and the fragile, from explosive rhythmic sequences to contemplative, almost melancholic passages.

Viktoria Søndergaard SECRETS consists (in addition to Viktoria herself) of Elvira Skovsang, Siv Øyunn, Ida Duelund, and Frederik Blæsild Vuust—five strong and versatile figures on the Danish music scene. Together, they create an outgoing and charismatic atmosphere. Their concerts are characterized by infectious energy and a constant curiosity to challenge sonic universes and dynamic ranges.

Support: Purpur

Purpur is an ensemble consisting of seven young women with diverse musical backgrounds in jazz, pop, and folk. Together, they create an exploratory soundscape where Danish-language lyrics and melodic wind arrangements meet pulsating rhythms. They make the most of their large ensemble to create tightly arranged music, combined with the freedom and improvisation of the jazz world. Purpur embraces the melancholic, Nordic sound and invites the listener into a dynamic, festive community reminiscent of roots and folk music.
